Exploration efforts have pinpointed 10 potential natural gas wells, holding an estimated 20 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of reserves. TransportationBangladesh is set for a major energy upgrade with the 295 km Maheshkhali–Matarbari to Bakhrabad gas transmission pipeline, scheduled for completion by 2029. The $1.4 billion project will add 1,800 mmscfd of imported LNG to the national grid, supplying power plants, fertilizer factories, and industries nationwide. Linking Matarbari’s upcoming land-based LNG terminal to the Bakhrabad supply network, the pipeline is key to expanding energy distribution as demand grows.
